Dodgers: Ryan Pepiot is Ready to Take Lessons from Debut Season into 2023

It’s only up from here for Ryan Pepiot. With the rotating door of pitchers due to injuries and other personal issues, Pepiot was able to make his big-league dreams come true with the Dodgers.

Pepiot started seven games for the Dodgers (nine games, 36.1 innings pitched) and amounted to a 3-0 record with a 3.47 ERA. It’s a strong start to a blooming career for Pepiot who will look to get plenty more opportunities in 2023.

It’s a huge jump for any player to make when they finally make it into the MLB, but Pepiot is confident the lessons he learned from his rookie season will carry over into 2023. The Dodgers surely will hope for the same level of commitment (via Dodgers Nation).

“I had some great experience getting some starts, coming out of the bullpen as well. I think the biggest thing I really learned is not to try to do too much even though it’s the big leagues. Just stay true to who I am and be Ryan Pepiot, I don’t have to be anybody else.”

Confidence can take you a long way but Pepiot is self-aware enough to know where he needs to improve.

“And then the biggest thing I’m going to takeaway is, be in the zone more. When I’m in the zone, good things happen. When I’m not, it leads to long innings. And nobody wants to be out there playing defense for that long.”

The next step for Pepiot is to turn into a perennial pitcher, a pedigree the Dodgers are all too familiar with holding. Expectations remain at an all-time high, especially with how much the Dodgers are prepared to utilize the young pitcher.
