Dodgers Schedule: Key Dates LA Fans Need to Know For the Offseason
As you might have heard, the Dodgers’ season ended abruptly on Saturday night, hurling us headfirst into an offseason we weren’t quite ready for. But while the rest of the baseball world insists the postseason is still ongoing, Dodger fans can start looking forward to some important dates over the next four months or so.
November 6: Free agency begins. For the first several days of free agency (the “quite period”), players may only negotiate with their previous teams.
November 10: Free agency “quiet period” ends; free agents are free to negotiate and sign with any team.
November 15: Rule 5 deadline for 40-man roster decisions. Any player not on the 40-man roster by that date who meets eligibility requirements is open to being taken in the Rule 5 draft. Eligibility: Players signed at age 18 or younger at least five seasons ago or players who signed at age 19 or older at least four seasons ago.
November 18: Tender deadline. This is the date teams must offer (“tender”) a contract to all players not yet eligible for free agency. For the Dodgers, the most notable name to keep an eye on for this date is Cody Bellinger, who is a candidate to be non-tendered.
December 4-7: Winter Meetings in San Diego.
December 7: Rule 5 Draft. On the last day of the Winter Meetings, the Rule 5 draft is held, in which teams may select eligible players from other teams. A selected player must spend the entire 2023 season on the selecting team’s active roster (or major-league injured list) or be offered back to the original team for a nominal fee.
February 13: Mandatory spring training reporting date for pitchers and catchers who are participating in the World Baseball Classic.
February 15: Mandatory spring training reporting date for pitchers, catchers, and injured players.
February 16: Mandatory spring training reporting date for players who are participating in the World Baseball Classic and aren’t pitchers or catchers.
February 20: Mandatory spring training reporting date for all other players.
February 25: First spring training game.

I could care less about next season. Yeah, maybe we win 120 games during the 2023 regular season. And then we choke in the playoffs. This pattern is getting old. For the 2nd highest payroll in MLB for 2022 our players choked. Anybody that watched the SD playoff series could clearly see that SD wanted it more than we did.
