Dodgers Scratch Mookie Betts From the Lineup on Sunday

The Dodgers will once again be without Mookie Betts on Sunday afternoon. Just one day after he took the day off as a scheduled rest, the team had to scratch him from the lineup Betts was in the initial lineup released by the team Sunday.

It’s officially been called left shoulder soreness by the Dodgers for Mookie. DJ Peters came back into the lineup as a result and will play in right field for him. Peters is coming off of a game Saturday that saw him tally the first multi-hit game of his very young career.

Betts has had to struggle through his share of aches and pains early this season. With so many Dodgers players out, they’ve played it safe with him any time he has experienced an issue. Most recently, he was hit on the forearm by a pitch and also had a back issue.

The Dodgers have not further commented on the late scratch, but it seems like it is a precautionary move more than anything. More to come on this later.

  1. Look, if Betts is injured, put him on the IL instead of playing short on the roster for several days. Perhaps another mis diagnosis as far as the extent of an injury goes, which appears to be commonplace with this medical and training staff.
