Dodgers Send Jimmy Nelson to the Injured List With Forearm Issue

The Dodgers are making one more move before their final game of the series against the Giants. Looking for a sweep over their NL West rivals, Los Angeles had to add in some bullpen help to get the job done.

Jimmy Nelson was placed on the injured list by the Dodgers prior to Sunday’s game. The team called it right forearm inflammation and gave him the 10-day designation. The move is retroactive to May 21st, so 10 days from then is when he can come back.

As a result of moving him to the IL, the Dodgers also recalled RHP Phil Bickford from the Triple-A team. Los Angeles claimed Bickford from the Brewers earlier in the month of May. In 5 games with Oklahoma City, he has posted a 1-0 record with a 5.40 ERA.

Bickford will help out a Dodgers bullpen that has seen a lot of work over the past week. With 2 bullpen games sprinkled in between starters, the relief team has needed every member out there ready to go.

Nelson has been one of the guys eating up innings in those bullpen games. He last appeared on Thursday against Arizona in one of those games. Nelson has been incredible for the Dodgers in the month of May, and has yet to be charged with a run.
