Ohtani is coming off one of the greatest seasons in the history of baseball. He set career-highs in home runs, hits, runs scored, runs batted in, doubles, and stolen bases. Ohtani invented the 50 home runs, 50 stolen bases club after he finished the season with 54 homers and 59 stolen bases.
In his first trip to the postseason, Ohtani won his first World Series ring. He also capped off his first season in a Dodgers uniform in the best way possible—unanimously winning the NL MVP award. Ohtani became the first exclusive designated hitter to win the award.
Now, after a remarkable first season with the Dodgers and just a few days before the new year, Ohtani announced a new addition to his family. It’s safe to say Ohtani experienced one of the best years both professionally and personally in 2024.

The headline scared me at first. I thought oh no that Shohei has turned woke and got himself pregnant. But then I realized it’s the writer who is woke and it’s actually Shohei’s wife who is pregnant and going to have the baby.
Headline should have read Shohei is going to be a father or that his wife is going to have a baby.
