Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Next Start Revealed, Could Sit Out Following Game

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani will make his next appearance on the mound this Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies, manager Dave Roberts revealed ahead of Monday’s series opener.

Ohtani has pitched the last three Wednesdays for LA, and will remain on that schedule this week. However, this one will be a little different.

The Dodgers have had an off day each of the last three Thursdays following an Ohtani start, giving him the ability to get a full day of rest following his two-way play. This week, though, the Dodgers play a Thursday series finale at Coors Field.

Roberts said Ohtani’s status for Thursday’s game is currently “to be determined.” There’s a chance Ohtani gets a full off day following Wednesday’s game, which would make sense considering Thursday is a day game and then the team travels to San Diego for a three-game set with the Padres.

How Many Innings With Shohei Ohtani Pitch vs Rockies?

As for the start, Ohtani is scheduled to pitch five innings on Wednesday at Coors Field.

Ohtani was scheduled to pitch five innings this past Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels, but lasted just 4.1 innings before being pulled.

Ohtani pitched a season-high 80 pitches in that start.
