Ohtani battled through the first two innings and was able to put up two zeroes. He struggled in the third inning, however, allowing George Springer to single and advance to third after a bunt and a wild pitch. He then intentionally walked Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to bring up Bo Bichette, who capitalized on the favorable position, crushing a three-run home run to knock Ohtani out of the game as a pitcher.
Justin Wrobleski entered the game for Ohtani, and closed the inning without allowing any further damage.
The Dodgers face a 3-0 deficit after Ohtani’s outing, and will need to fight an uphill battle for the remaining six innings of the game.
