Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani to Start World Series Game 7

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced reigning MVP Shohei Ohtani will start Game 7 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The right-hander is set to make his second start of the series on Saturday, having also started Game 4 at Dodger Stadium. In his last outing, Ohtani threw six innings and allowed four earned runs while also striking out six batters.

The two-way superstar has made three starts this postseason, allowing seven runs through 18 innings of work. All three of his starts in the playoffs have spanned six innings, and he has not thrown more than 100 pitches in any of them.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed LA would have all hands on deck out of the bullpen following their win in Game 6, having only used three pitchers in relief during the game. The only pitcher Roberts ruled out for the series finale is Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who started the previous game.

“Not sure the pitching situation,” Roberts said. “But [Tyler Glasnow] will be available. Everyone will be available.”

Ohtani is putting together a masterful postseason campaign, logging a 1.111 OPS with a .714 slugging percentage through his 16 games this postseason. His eight home runs throughout the playoffs tie the Dodgers record, which Corey Seager set during the 2020 season.

The Dodgers have lost just one game on the road heading into Game 7, and will look to win the World Series for the second season in a row on Saturday. The Dodgers are on the right side of history as far as the game goes, having won both of their most recent Game 7 matchups on the road. Both of those games came in the NLCS, though, and not the World Series.

They’ll look to continue that trend in the final game of the 2025 season, which comes on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. PT.
