Dodgers Shortstop Suspended for One Year Following Positive Drug Test

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Jose D. Hernandez was suspended for one year following a positive test for boldenone and nandrolone under baseball’s minor league drug program, per the Associated Press.

Hernandez, 21, will miss next year’s Arizona Complex League season following the positive drug test.

Hernandez signed with the Dodgers as a minor league free agent in July 2019. This past season in the Arizona Complex League, he slashed .302/.394/.512 with four home runs, 21 runs batted in, and an OPS of .906 across 26 games. He added six doubles, eight walks, and five stolen bases while striking out 21 times.

Across 135 career minor league games since 2021, Hernandez is slashing .268/.390/.434 with 11 home runs and 77 runs batted in. Now, he’ll have to sit out the 2025 season before being able to play again.

Hernandez signed with the Dodgers out of Venezuela in 2019 on a deal that included a $10,000 signing bonus.

  1. You must keep Walker. Most clutch pitcher on staff.
    Don’t be foolish.
Dodger fan from Cape Cod. Have been an avid supporter since Ebbits field days 1952.
Hate to see him on Yankees.
Watched many of your players grow into ball players as they passed thru the Cape Cod league here in Warwham every summer!

Plus he is a first class gentleman!!

    Thanks for listening!!

    1. I hear you loud and clear. I bet you were one dose bums at Ebbets Field or part of the knothole gang. Those were the days.

  2. That’s great to get Snell on the team. He’s a top 10 pitcher. Clayton has turned into a Mascot for the team. Per usual, MORE pitching

    1. Snell has the highlights of a HOF career. Now he can add the needed stats with the Dodgers.
