The Los Angeles Dodgers signed right-handed pitcher Lou Trivino to a minor league deal, per MLB Trade Rumors’ Anthony Franco.

Trivino was designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants, cleared waivers, and elected free agency Friday.

The veteran signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the San Francisco Giants in the offseason. Trivino earned a spot on the Opening Day roster following a standout spring performance.

Trivino logged a 5.84 ERA across 12.1 innings with the Giants this season. The right-hander has a career 3.94 ERA, spending time with the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and most recently the Giants.

Trivino’s best performance came in 2021 with the Athletics when he sported a 3.18 ERA with 67 strikeouts across 73.2 innings pitched.

Given the current usage of the Dodgers bullpen, it appears Trivino could provide reinforcements for the pitching staff. The Dodgers bullpen currently leads the league in innings, a practice that manager Dave Roberts said was not sustainable.
