Snell joins a Dodgers team that is coming off a World Series win less than a month ago. Snell shores up the team’s biggest need, and will give the Dodgers the best rotation in baseball when fully healthy.

Alongside Snell is Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani, who will return to his two-way abilities in 2025. Other options for the rotation include Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, and Bobby Miller, while Clayton Kershaw is expected to re-sign with L.A. at some point this offseason.

Snell was one of the best free agents on the market. After struggling early in the year with the San Francisco Giants, Snell had a dominant second half, finishing with a 3.12 ERA across 20 starts.

Snell won the Cy Young award in 2023 after he had a 2.25 ERA with the San Diego Padres. It was his second career Cy Young award, as he won in 2018 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Snell turns 32 next week, and this deal includes deferred money, per The Athletic.

In his career at Dodger Stadium, Snell has a 2.03 ERA across 31 innings with 39 strikeouts. Now, Snell will call Dodger Stadium home for the next half-decade.

  1. This likely means Flaherty goes elsewhere. They will likely resign Teoscar, suggesting they may not sign Adames. Resign Buehler.

  2. I never really cared for Blake Snell. Now I have to change my mind. Night games at Dodger Stadium could be bad news for other teams coming in when he is pitching. This is another one of Friedman’s maneuvers that is borderline genius. Now we will be stacked with starters. “Tony, we are going to skip your start next time through.” “Tyler we are going to push your start back until we play Chicago.” And so on. Now let’s re-sign Teo.

    1. Yes I agree we need to sign him and fast that will almost for sure make us a two-time world champion

    2. Wow. I’ve watched Snell due to living in San Diego and I can tell you there were a couple of times I watched in awe as Snell was the closest to being unhittable as I’ve almost ever seen. I’m keeping fingers crossed because Buehler has always been one of my favorite pitchers and I strongly hope the dodgers keep him.
