Dodgers Sweep Braves at Home, Kazmir Out With Injured Hamstring

The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Braves, outscoring their opponent 20-8 in the series.

The Braves were first on the board with a double by Jeff Francoeur scoring Chase d’Arnaud. One batter later, Nick Markakis singled to left, scoring Francoeur.

The Dodgers tied the score in the bottom of the inning when Adrian González doubled scoring Trayce Thompson, and Howie Kendrick singled to center scoring González.

Enrique Hernández homered to center in the second, giving the Dodgers their first lead of the game, 3-2. The Dodgers got on the board yet again with a single by Joc Peterson, scoring Thompson. Yasmani Grandal hit a three-run homer increasing the Dodger lead to 7-2.

Corey Seager hit a solo home run in the fourth. He picked up another RBI in the fifth, scoring Scott Kazmir. Markakis picked up his second RBI of the day in the top of the sixth, singling in Francoeur once again.

The Dodgers increased their lead to 10-3 with a double to deep center by Chase Utley, bringing Grandal home. Right after, Seager hit his 14th home run of the season, a two-run homer to in Utley.

The Braves tack on a couple runs late in the game. García doubled to left scoring Markakis, and Pierzynski singled to center scoring García. A solo home run by Brandon Snyder increased the Braves’ lead, but it was not enough to beat the Dodgers, ending the game at 12-6.

Kazmir exited the game in the sixth due to a cramp in his left quad. He gave up 7 hits and 3 earned runs, striking out 5 and walking 1. He improved to 5-3 on the season.

 

Julio Urias will make his home debut against the Rockies this Tuesday, during Game 2 of the series.
