Dodgers: The Latest Tommy Lasorda Health Update

Dodgers fans have been anxiously waiting to hear an update on Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda. Tommy was placed in the ICU in November after experiencing issues with his heart. This is not the first time that Lasorda has been in the hospital with cardiac-related problems, but many had hoped he would be out of the hospital by now.

Lasorda was supposed to be released from the hospital in time for the holidays, obviously giving Dodgers fans a lot of optimism about his condition. The latest update from Bill Plunkett of the OC Register though, says that Lasorda has yet to be released and it still under his doctor’s care.

The 93-year-old former Dodgers manager has now been hospitalized for over 6 weeks without a real release date set. He was moved out of intensive care in late November, but will continue to be monitored. Lasorda traveled to Arlington during the postseason run to watch his team win the World Series in Game 6 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Lasorda was the manager of the Dodgers for 21 seasons, piling up wins by the hundreds and bringing home two World Series titles. Lasorda’s 1,599 regular-season wins rank 22nd all-time among all MLB managers.
