Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman provided an injury update following his ankle surgery this offseason.
Edman first suffered an ankle sprain in April, heading to the injured list and not returning until the middle of May. He landed on the injured list once again a couple of months later in August, returning to the team nearly a month later towards the start of September.

The 31-year-old still battled injury throughout the remainder of the regular season and postseason, limiting him to playing second base exclusively after spending most of his time in center field last season.
“It’s going well,” Edman told Dodgers Nation. “It’s just kind of recovering a day at a time, slowly but surely. I’m going to be in a boot for a couple more weeks and then keep moving around Christmas time and hopefully be 100 percent for next year.”

Despite his injury, Edman still contributed to the Dodgers’ postseason run, playing every game but one for LA. Through his 16 games, Edman homered twice, scoring five runs and driving in eight.
Edman had a down year in 2025, posting a career-low .656 OPS after a solid first season with the Dodgers in 2024. Despite his lower OPS, Edman matched his career high in home runs with 13, and recorded 49 RBIs — his most since 2022.
Edman’s positive update is great news for the Dodgers, as he will more than likely be their first-choice second baseman for the upcoming season. His injury is much less of a concern now that the Dodgers re-signed veteran utility man Miguel Rojas, who has provided an above-average glove and a solid bat over the last two seasons.

The Dodgers will hope both of their key infielders will be able to contribute next season as they look for the first three-peat in franchise history.
