Dodgers: Tony Gonsolin Tosses First Live BP of Spring Training
Dodgers spring training is getting close to full speed. There’s plenty of sights and sounds to behold for at Camelback Ranch, but watching pitchers face their teammates is one of the more fascinating parts of spring training. On Monday, Tony Gonsolin threw a live batting practice against the likes of: Will Smith, Gavin Lux, Matt Beaty, and Edwín Rios.
At first blush, it doesn’t appear that any of the four hitters absolutely crushed any Gonsolin meatballs, but he did struggle a bit with his command. Especially in Will Smith’s at-bat.
Gonsolin battled a litany of injuries last year and only pitched in 15 games. In a year where the Dodgers rotation is thinner than in years past, he’ll likely be counted on more than ever to consistently start.
