Dodgers Veteran Wants to Be MLB Manager After Retirement

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas recently announced that he plans to retire from the game of baseball at the end of the 2026 season.

Ahead of his eventual announcement, Rojas recently spoke to Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain about his intentions for what will happen after he hangs it up for good, and if he would want to be an MLB manager.

“One hundred percent, yeah, that’s one of my goals,” said Rojas.

“I want to coach, I want to kinda like put my input and the whole experience I had playing the game, learning the game from others learning from coaches, learning from my teammates, playing around the best in the game for a long time, I feel like I could have a critical opportunity to help the next generation and even the generation that we have right now.

“I don’t want to get away from the game, I want to stay in the game as long as I have an opportunity and I’m looking forward to that. I don’t know what my role is gonna be or what path I’m gonna have to take, but I want to keep all the avenues open for me to stay in the game and help the next generation.”

Rojas certanly has the experience and resume to be an effective manager with the character to back it up.

Some of his past teammates include Ichiro Suzuki, Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, J.T. Realmuto, and other stars from his time with the Miami Marlins, but he has also had the pleasure of crossing paths with some of the greatest Dodgers in recent memory.

Clayton Kershaw, Kenley Jansen, Zack Greinke, Justin Turner, Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzalez, Juan Uribe, Hanley Ramirez and other key players were teammates of Rojas in LA, and that’s just his rookie campaign with the team. Since Rojas came back to the Dodgers in 2023, there have been no shortage of MVP’s, Cy Young award winners and All-Stars sharing a clubhouse with him.

Rojas may have announced his retirement plans, but there is still an enormous item he would like to accomplish at the end of this season before getting to his post-baseball plans.
