Dodgers vs Diamondbacks: Latest Betting Odds, Predictions and Picks for September 14
Back in the days of 40-man September rosters, you could expect a “hangover lineup” the day after clinching the division. In 2013, a day after swimming in Chase Field’s magical Forbidden Pool, the Dodgers started Tim Federowicz at catcher and Drew Butera at first base, because why use one catcher who can’t hit when you can use two?
But there’s only one extra position player on the roster this year, which means it’s basically business as usual for Los Angeles as they attempt to sweep the DBacks heading into Thursday’s off-day.
Rookie Michael Grove is expected to get the spot start for the Dodgers today, although that hasn’t yet been officially announced as of 10:50 am PT since Grove isn’t actually on the active roster yet. But once he’s added to the roster, presumably with Andre Jackson being optioned back to Triple-A to make room, Grove will start against Zach Davies of the DBacks.
Grove will be making his third career start and looking for his first win. Davies, meanwhile, will be making his fourth start this year against L.A. and hoping to turn his luck around. He has a 3.73 ERA against non-Dodgers teams this year and a 7.43 ERA against Los Angeles.
Team Games (W/L)
- Dodgers against the spread (ATS) this season: 88-53 (per ActionNetwork.com)
- Diamondbacks ATS: 80-60-1
