Dodgers vs Diamondbacks: Lineups, Pregame Matchups, and More for September 22

The rubber match of the unique five-game series is tonight as the Dodgers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final time this season. After taking the first two games of the series, the Dodgers have dropped the last two, leading us to this winner-take-all game five.

It’s a battle of aces tonight at Dodger Stadium, as Julio Urias is facing off against Zac Gallen. Urias currently has the second-best odds to win the National League Cy Young award, while Gallen is right behind him in third.

Mookie Betts is getting another day off for the Dodgers, while Will Smith slides into the three-hole.

With the righty on the mound, Joey Gallo, Trayce Thompson and Cody Bellinger are all manning the outfield.

Urias and Gallen dueled earlier this season in Arizona on April 27.

Gallen threw six shutout innings, while Urias threw six innings of one-run baseball. Neither pitcher got a decision, but the D-Backs got the best of the Dodgers with a 3-1 victory.

In his career, Gallen has a 2.51 ERA and 52 strikeouts against the Dodgers in eight starts. Urias is 7-1 with a 1.54 ERA and 42 strikeouts in his 10 career appearances (seven starts) against Arizona.

The Dodgers will look to get back on track, as they prepare for their final three-game series of the season against a non-NL West opponent when they welcome Albert Pujols and the Cardinals into town this weekend.

The team still sits at 103-46, just four wins away from breaking the franchise record of 106 wins in a season. First pitch tonight is at 7:10 pm on SNLA and MLB Network for out-of-market fans.
