Dodgers vs Rockies: Latest Betting Odds, Predictions and Picks for September 30

After 156 games and 108 victories, the Dodgers head into their final series of the season on Friday night, kicking off a weird six-game series with the Rockies to finish things off. On the line is home-field advantage throughout the postseason (one more win or one more Astros loss will clinch that) and best winning percentage in franchise history (splitting this series with Colorado would lock that up).

But realistically, this series is all about getting ready for the postseason and staying healthy.

Game one of the series is Kershaw Day, with Clayton Kershaw taking the mound for his 21st start of the year. He’s 10-3 with a 2.42 ERA overall, two of his worst starts have come against the Rockies. Of course, those were both in Colorado, a beautiful place to visit or ski but a place where Major League Baseball never should have been played. If you take out Kershaw’s two Colorado starts, he’d be 10-1 with a 1.87 ERA. (Of course, if you remove Coors Field from Kershaw’s career, his overall ERA drops from 2.49 — already the best in the live-ball era — to 2.34. Alas, Coors exists.)

The Rockies will counter with Chad Kuhl, who had the best start of his life back in late June, throwing a complete-game shutout against the Dodgers in Colorado. Since that game, he has allowed 51 runs over his last 12 starts for an 8.15 ERA, including getting knocked around for five runs in 3.2 innings by Los Angeles a month after his shutout. For the season, Kuhl is 6-10 with a 5.45 ERA.
