Dodgers Vs. Rockies Recap: Van Slyke Lifts Dodgers In 12th

Hanley Ramirez gave the Dodgers a bit of a scare when he fouled a ball off his left knee and went down in pain. He remained in the game long enough to draw a walk, however he was then replaced by Miguel Rojas.



After Andre Ethier hit into a force out, Turner singled to left to put two on with one out. Both runners were then stranded by A.J. Ellis and Haren. Following Blackmon’s two-out double, Ynoa gave the Rockies’ a 2-1 lead with an RBI single.

The Dodgers quickly answered back in the bottom of the fourth with a Scott Van Slyke RBI that tied the game. He then stole second base and scored on Kemp’s RBI double. Andre Ethier added another RBI double to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 4-2. Butler intentionally walked Turner and his night was over.

Juan Nicasio gave up an RBI single to Ellis and the Dodgers led 5-2 headed to the sixth inning. Jamey Wright relieved Haren and allowed the Rockies to score a run on a trio of singles in the inning. Wright, Scott Elbert and Brandon League each recorded an out in a scoreless seventh.

Michael McKenry hit a leadoff home run off Yimi Garcia that cut the Dodgers’ lead to 5-4 in the eighth inning. The young reliever then proceeded to get two of three outs via strikeout. With the Dodgers clinging to their lead, Ben Paulsen hit a leadoff home run in the ninth off Paco Rodriguez to tie the game.

Both teams were relatively quiet in extra innings, with the Dodgers getting three scoreless innings out of Carlos Frias. Van Slyke’s base hit in the 12th inning was the Dodgers’ first hit since the sixth inning.

Rockies reliever Franklin Morales then hit Tim Federowicz to give the Dodgers two on with one out. Van Slyke then stole third base and scored on Morales’ wild pitch to give the Dodgers’ their fourth consecutive win.
