Dodgers Wild Card: Brewers Best Pitcher Devin Williams Left Off of Roster With Injury

The top seed Dodgers are set to face off against the 8th seed Brewers in the Wild Card Series tonight in Los Angeles. While LA obviously comes in as the favorite to this series, many expected the Brewers’ bullpen to be the difference-maker.

Unfortunately, the Brewers took a huge blow to their playoff chances just hours before the game. Milwaukee released their roster and it did not include standout bullpen piece, Devin Williams, on it. The reliever will miss the series against the Dodgers with right shoulder soreness

The Dodgers really only had Josh Hader and Devin William to worry about in this series against the Brewers. Their offense has been one of the worst in baseball, but those two relievers have made the difference in getting them to the playoffs.

Williams was striking out batters at a rate of over 17 per 9 innings pitched. He was also averaging more than a 60% ground ball rate en route to a pristine 0.86 FIP and 0.33 ERA. The Dodgers will now only need to worry about Josh Hader, who has had somewhat of a downs season himself. Hader’s 4.03 FIP this year is by far the worst mark of his career.
