Dodgers: Zach McKinstry Tunes Up His Swing for the 2022 Season
Dodgers utility man Zach McKinstry has a big time prove-it season ahead of him in 2022. The 26-year-old started last season strong before the wheels fell off following a hamstring injury in April.
After an up and down season that proved to be a challenge, McKinstry is focused on making it a learning opportunity.
Despite the lockout, the left-hander is putting in work in the cages, ready for the moment the light turns green. Zach shared a video on his Instagram showing his hitting progression
His mixing in of “LA I miss you” at the end of his post made us miss baseball even more.
Like many players right now, McKinstry is locked out of his home ballpark as club owners and the MLB Players Association argue over the next collective bargaining agreement. After his struggles last season, maybe the back-to-basics approach will lead to a break-out campaign for the 2016 Dodgers draft pick.
Over parts of two seasons, McKinstry has a .215/.264/.406 triple slash line with 7 home runs and 29 runs batted in.

I thought McKinstry’s injury was to his oblique…regardless it’s not unusual for a young player’s hitting to tail off after an injury or some managerial choice limits his at-bats.Alot of what is written about Zach underestimates him significantly. That said, I see him being included in potential trades that we make with Oakland and possibly Cincinnati. He will be a major league player given a chance.
Zach has a lot of upside and is a perfect fit for the Dodger because he plays the outfield, third and second.I’m pretty sure you can put him at first and he would do fine.He also seems like he adds good chemistry!
