Dustin May Reacts to Dodgers Winning World Series After Trade to Red Sox

The Los Angeles Dodgers won another World Series this season, and will send out rings to all players — current and former — who contributed to their historic run in the 2025 season.

One such player is Dustin May, who the Dodgers dished to the Boston Red Sox at the trade deadline in exchange for outfielders James Tibbs III ans Zach Ehrhard. Despite his absence from the team, though, May expressed his happiness for the Dodgers for their win in 2025.

“I played with the guys for a long time,” May said before the MLB Awards show. “They were all my boys. It was definitely very fun to watch.”

May began his career with the Dodgers in 2019, and served as part of the Dodgers’ World Series-winning team in 2020. He missed the entire 2024 season with injury, though, and wasn’t part of the Dodgers’ second World Series win of the 2020s. He will be receiving his ring in 2025, having made 19 appearances last season before leaving at the deadline.

“Those are things that you can never take away from somebody,” he said. “I wasn’t in the playoffs with them, but I played with them for four and a half months or however long it was. So I definitely helped and contributed for them to get there.”

May’s 19 outings with the Dodgers in 2025 marked a new career high, having struggled with injury through the early parts of his career. He posted a 4.85 ERA through 104 innings pitched, striking out 97 batters in the process.

While not the most consistent pitcher in 2025, May still came through for the Dodgers with a couple of solid starts, most notably against the Atlanta Braves at the beginning of the season and against the Minnesota Twins shortly before the Dodgers traded him. He held his opponents scoreless in both games, earning a win against the Twins and no decision against the Braves.

He made six more appearances after swapping coasts, posting a 5.40 ERA through 28.1 innings pitched.

  1. Dustin should be proud of his time with the Dodgers. I think most, if not all, Dodger fans really appreciated they way he played for the Dodgers. His talent, grit, and determination were ever present on the field. Sadly, his injuries kept him off the field for a good chunk of time and has delayed his continuing success.
We are pulling for you Dustin, and wish you good health and a long, rewarding career.

  2. Classy comments Dustin, my complements.

Now I’m no MLB scout or whatever, but IMO the Dodgers gave up on him too early, I understand the business aspect, and he has had injury problems, but I see him having a solid career past the D’s. Good luck to him regardless.

    1. He ran out of team control. Why would they want to actually give him a contract with his production levels? They have much younger and more controllable options that don’t require a FA contract. Like Sheehan, Wrobo, Roki, And River Ryan for example. Who would you rather have in that 5th/6th starter spot?

  3. Thank you for being part of the Dodgers…”every brick makes the wall”, enjoyed your outings.
