Former Dodger Gavin Lux Says 2025 Season With Reds The Most Fun of His Career

The Los Angeles Dodgers said goodbye to some longtime players this offseason, including second baseman Gavin Lux.

The longtime Dodger was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in January, just days after L.A. signed KBO infielder Hyeseong Kim.

The 27-year-old appears to be settling in well with his new squad as Lux just a few days ago was the National League batting leader with a .352 average. Entering Saturday, he’s hitting .317 with an OPS of .836. Both would be by far career-highs at the end of the year.

“My swing itself doesn’t feel great right now, so it’s just trying to go in compete mode and take care of my approach,” Lux said to NBC 5’s Charlie Clifford.

As for when was the last time Lux enjoyed showing up to the ballpark as much as he does this season, there was no other point in his professional career he could equate it to.

“Probably high school,” Lux said. “This is a fun group. Everyone’s pretty close, it’s a young group. Just coming to the field everyday, it’s a lot of excitement.”

Lux spent the first six years of his Major League career with the Dodgers. The infielder admitted he was surprised the defending champions traded him this offseason, but it appears he is thriving in his new role with the Reds.

“Obviously you still don’t really expect it after being in one place for so long. But at the same time, it is a business,” Lux previously said of the Dodgers’ decision to trade him. “They have to do what’s best for them. And I think they did me a solid by getting me to a place that has the expectation of winning. … A place where I think they think I can help.”

  1. Yes, of course, whine when you’re traded and now it was more fun than winning two World Series championships. Got it. Was neutral on the trade and really didn’t want to see him go, but good riddance with this kind of childish posturing. Why do you all write this junk?
