Former Dodgers Infielder Micah Johnson Finds a New Passion

Micah Johnson may or may not be a name that most fans can remember. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen him in a Dodgers uniform, but he hasn’t played in the big leagues at all since 2017.

Johnson has been in news headlines for parts of this year because of what he is now doing off of the field. The former Dodgers infielder made an appearance on KTLA 5 to talk about some of the work he is now doing as an artist, and it is inspiring.

These works, I hope they inspire my four nephews and as well as my daughter and other kids out there. You can do this. I have a lot of hope that these kids that I’m painting are going to make this world a way better place than we definitely did.

Johnson reveals that he found his passion for painting after being traded to the Dodgers in 2015. Micah came to Los Angeles in a deal that also brought Frankie Montas and Trayce Thompson to the team. Johnson had previously been with the Chicago White Sox, the team that drafted him out of Indiana University.

Johnson spent just a few games up with the Dodgers big league squad before being traded to Atlanta.

Micah’s paintings can be seen at the Art Angels Gallery in West Hollywood, they will be on display through the end of September. You can also check out the paintings on his Instagram account (@micah_johnson3). The paintings are currently available for purchase if you’re interested.
