Freddie Freeman, Gavin Lux Surprisingly Out of Dodgers Lineup in NLCS Game 4
The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t have Freddie Freeman or Gavin Lux in their NLCS Game 4 lineup vs. the New York Mets.
The Mets have the left-handed Jose Quintana on the mound, which makes sense as to why Lux is sitting as he nurses his hip injury.
However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Wednesday he expects Freeman to play in Game 4.
“Freddie’s fine. Freddie’s fine,” Roberts said after the Dodgers’ 8-0 Game 3 win. “I think we got through it. And my expectation is he’ll be in there tomorrow.”
Clearly, he wasn’t feeling as good as the team had hoped.
Here’s the Dodgers’ full lineup for NLCS Game 4:
Tommy Edman has been moved up to the cleanup spot, with Kiké Hernández batting fifth. Andy Pages and Chris Taylor are in the lineup playing center field and second base, respectively.
It’s a big surprise that Freeman isn’t playing, as on Tuesday, Roberts said regarding Freeman: “I just don’t see any world where he doesn’t start a game in the NLCS.” However, he did say that it would be telling if he didn’t suit up.
“If he can’t do it, that’s very telling,” Roberts said. “The weather probably will play a factor. I hope it won’t be too kind of limiting, but I think we’re mindful of it.”
An update on Freeman will come in the next hour when Roberts speaks to reporters.
