Freddie Freeman Thanks Dodgers Fans For All The Support Throughout Championship Season
Freddie Freeman thanked the Los Angeles Dodgers fans and his teammates while speaking in front of the roaring crowd at Dodger Stadium as the city of Los Angeles celebrated the Dodgers’ World Series victory.
Freeman thanked the fans for their support when his son, Max, was hospitalized with a rare case of Guillain-Barré syndrome.
“When I came back after my son got sick, you guys showed out for my family and I,” Freeman said. “That was one of the greatest experiences. I was so touched. I did everything I could to get out on the field for you guys. I’m glad I did because we’ve got a championship now.”
The World Series MVP also thanked his teammates for “having his back” all season.
“I had only one leg but I had a whole group of guys that had my back all year.”
Despite dealing with adversity and injuries throughout the season and postseason, Freeman put together one of the greatest performances in the World Series, helping lift the Dodgers over the New York Yankees for the organization’s eighth championship. In Game 1 of the World Series, Freeman hit the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history to give the Dodgers the 1-0 lead in the series.
Freeman hit home runs in the Dodgers’ next three games, setting a record as the first player to hit a home run in six consecutive World Series games. He added two more RBIs in the Dodgers’ Game 5 clinching victory over the Yankees and was rightfully named the World Series MVP.
