HOW THEY GOT HERE

The Dodgers claimed their eighth straight NL West crown in 2020 going 43-17 in the shortened 60-game season. Paced by offseason trade acquisition Mookie Betts (16) and resurgent outfielder A.J. Pollock (16), LA leads baseball in home runs with 118.

Each club features a pair of NL MVP hopefuls in Betts and Corey Seager for LA, and Atlanta with Freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuna, Jr. It’s no secret that Atlanta’s first baseman Freeman has been having a stellar season and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon, while for LA the bats of Bellinger and Muncy appear to be waking up at the right time.

On the pitching front, the Dodgers, anchored by long-time ace Clayton Kershaw, lead MLB in team ERA (3.02). While Walker Buehler’s performances so far have been a bit short due to a blister, it would seem that manager Dave Roberts is not worried. Atlanta will be looking to their young starters Max Fried, Kyle Wright, and Ian Anderson to shut down the Dodgers’ explosive offense.
