James Outman Connected to Dodgers Legend Yasiel Puig After Big Night

The Dodgers won game number 3 this season, beating down on the Colorado Rockies on a final of 13-4. Four Dodgers had multi-hit games, with Freddie Freeman’s 3 hits leading the way. Jason Heyward, J.D. Martinez, and James Outman all had 2 hits. It was Outman’s game, however, that got him linked to LA legend Yasiel Puig.

The rookie outfielder went off on Monday night with 2 hits and 3 runs batted in. Importantly, both of the hits were triples, the first of his big league career.

Usually with performances like that, we find out about some historical stat or connection to a franchise icon. For Outman, it was the latter.

With those 2 triples, he became the first Dodger to hit multiple triples in one ballgame since old friend Yasiel Puig in 2014.

Puig wasn’t the only big name Outman linked himself to. He’s also found himself in the company of Corey Seager and Puig again, for a different reason.

It feels like we’ve been talking about James Outman for a while now but really he’s just getting started. After earning a job as a starting outfielder out of spring training, he’s done nothing but reward Dave Roberts and the Dodgers. He’s hitting .333 this season and .400 for his young career.
