The 2025 season brought plenty of excitement to LA, with the Los Angeles Dodgers winning their second straight World Series title.
With 2026 around the corner, here are some of the most important dates for the upcoming MLB season.
Opening Day
The San Francisco Giants host the New York Yankees to open the 2026 regular season on Mar. 25 — the earliest non-international opening game in MLB history.
The remainder of the league will play the following day, with the Dodgers kicking their season off against the Arizona Diamondbacks at home.

Jackie Robinson Day
Jackie Robinson Day is an annual event in MLB during which all 30 teams wear the retired No. 42 to celebrate Jackie Robinson’s career.
Robinson made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers April 15, 1947, and the event is held every year on that day. The Dodgers play a home game every year on Jackie Robinson day, and will host the New York Mets in 2026.
Rivalry Weekend
After Rivalry Weekend’s success in 2025, MLB opted to bring it back in 2026. During Rivalry Weekend, all 30 teams will play a three-game series against their designated geographical rival.
The Dodgers will look to take revenge on the Angels after a disappointing year against them last season, during which they lost all six matchups.
All-Star Game
The 2026 All-Star Game, as announced in 2019, will take place at Citizen’s Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Dodgers always control the All-Star Ballot, and will look to do so again in 2026. The All-Star Game will take place July 14.
Roberto Clemente Day
MLB celebrates Roberto Clemente Day every year on Sept. 15, honoring the life of Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente.
All players, coaches and umpires will wear a “21” patch on their uniforms, and teams will announce their nominee for the Roberto Clemente awards, which is given to the player who “best represents the game of Baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.”

Final Day of the Regular Season
The final day of the regular season comes Sept. 27, the earliest it has been since the 2020 season. The Dodgers will end the year with nine straight games against divisional opponents, closing their regular season campaign against the Giants on the road.

I’m a 57 yr old grandmother who has never really been interested in baseball until I happened to run across the charming face of Ohtani. I then read and watched every thing about him which then led me to really admire the whole team in general. I told my husband I wanted to learn baseball before spring training so that I could appreciate them even more.
