Kiké Hernandez Sends Clear Message on Dodgers Lineup: ‘Best in the League’

Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Kiké Hernandez isn’t an everyday player during the regular season, but he’s been in the lineup for every game of the playoffs thus far.

Why?

Because Hernandez is one of the players who shine brightest in October, making him a huge asset for the Dodgers time and time again.

Hernandez is 11-for-29 with four doubles this postseason, posting a batting average of .379. The dangerous thing about the utility man is he isn’t even a top of the order guy, yet he’s someone opponents have to worry about.

He credits the Dodgers’ offensive success on one simple thing: trust.

“It’s just that trust and belief we have in each other that if you don’t get the job done, the guy behind you is going to do it,” Hernandez said.

“We know that, one through nine, we have the best and deepest lineup in the league.”

While the Dodgers have won the first two games of the National League Championship Series against the best-record in baseball Milwaukee Brewers, the job is far from finished.

“We’re good. We’re really good,” Hernandez said. “The experience, the trust that we have in each other, that if we’re down in the game early, we’re going to find a way to come back and tie it or take the lead.

“We’re 2-0 in the NLCS, but the goal is to win a World Series, not to win two games on the road. And as we’re still playing the Milwaukee Brewers, we’re going to focus on them and take it one day at a time. We haven’t really accomplished anything yet.”

  1. Shohei needs to Concentrate on his Pitching today. Bat him 4th so he can transition easier. That way he doesn’t Rush to plate after Pitching an inning!
Dodgers must keep practicing the Fundamentals and plays that actually occurred during the Postseason playoffs.

    1. The only time Ohtani didn’t bat leadoff this season was when Dave Roberts switched him and Mookie Betts. It’s hard to see Ohtani batting any lower, especially in the postseason.
