Latest Fan Poll: Faith in Pitching Staff Reaches Season Low

We’re past the halfway point of the 2024 season. The Dodgers have major issues, especially on the pitching side, and need to find a solution before the 2024 trade deadline. Fans voted on six polls regarding all things Dodgers, shared on Twitter/X by Dodgers Nation.

The most prominent concern among fans was the Dodgers’ pitching staff, especially the starting rotation.

The Los Angeles rotation was limited to four healthy starters by the All-Star break. Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler are two key pitchers on the injured list.

One fan pointed out that the Dodgers need to aim for another starting pitcher at the deadline. The Dodgers have shown interest in the White Sox’s Garrett Crochet and the Tigers’ Tarik Skubal to deepen their rotation.

The return of All-Star pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Clayton Kershaw this week might provide hope for fans going forward. One fan said that solid outings from the returning pitchers could earn the rotation his approval.

The bullpen received nearly split votes, with the main concern regarding the lack of a reliable closer.

But, the Dodgers have expressed that an impact outfield bat and a dominant starter are their top two priorities. Acquiring all three at the deadline might be too big of a request.

One outfield bat that does not need to be replaced is 2024 Home Run Derby champion Teoscar Hernández. The 2024 NL All-Star will be a free agent after this season. Even though in-season contract extensions with player are rare, fans are confident that the Dodgers will extend Hernández’s contract.

The position players gained the most approval from fans.

Similarly to the rotation, several key position players have been sidelined with injuries, including Mookie Betts and Max Muncy. This has led to players moving all around the field, creating inconsistency that fans are concerned about.

Since returning for the second half of the season, Los Angeles has won five of its first six games. This could explain the high amount of approval votes for manager Dave Roberts.

But, Roberts has not gained the approval of all fans.

The Dodgers’ front office also received the approval of most fans.

With the trade deadline less than one week away and fans demanding solutions to three different concerns, the front office has its work cut out to satisfy fans by Tuesday.
