Looking Back at Dave Roberts’ Dodgers Tenure After Celebrating 10-Year Anniversary

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts celebrated his 10-year anniversary with the team over the weekend.

The Dodgers named Roberts as the franchise’s 32nd manager in late November 2015. The Dodgers have experienced nothing but success ever since.

Here’s a look back at Roberts’ tenure with the Dodgers thus far, and the surefire Hall of Fame track he’s put himself on.

Regular Season Supremacy

The Dodgers have been by far the best team in MLB since Roberts’ first year in 2016, going 944-575 (.621 winning percentage). The second-best team is the Houston Astros, who are 890-627 (.587 winning percentage).

The Dodgers have finished with the best record in MLB four times. They’ve had at least 91 wins in every full season, and at least 100 wins five times.

Divisional Dominance

The Dodgers have won the National League West nine times under Roberts, with their lone second place finish coming in a year in which they won 106 games (2021). They’ve played into at least the divisional round in every postseason.

World Series Wins

The Dodgers have made five World Series under Roberts, being one of the last two teams standing in half of Roberts’ seasons at the helm.

The Dodgers were robbed of a World Series win in 2017 against the Astros, who were illegally stealing signs. They then got back to the World Series in 2018, losing to the Boston Red Sox. Since then, they’ve seen nothing but success.

The Dodgers finally ended their World Series drought in 2020, beating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games. They then established their dynasty over the last two years, beating the New York Yankees in five games in 2024 and the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games in 2025.

Hall of Fame Incoming

Roberts is on a Hall of Fame pace and could go down as one of the greatest managers in MLB history. Only 11 managers have won at least three World Series titles. Only two managers (Joe Torre and Tony La Russa) have more postseason wins than Roberts (69).

Roberts’ .621 winning percentage is the highest in National/American League history.

How Much Longer Will Dave Roberts Manage The Dodgers?

It’s safe to assume Roberts will have the job with the Dodgers as long as he wants it. He has three more years left on his deal that made him the highest paid manager in MLB history in terms of average annual value. He has said he doesn’t know if he’ll continue managing after this contract expires.

  1. You can be the best manager but without a Fantastic approach to signing players other teams let go, No amount of Coaching skills make a Winning Team!
Over his Tenure troublesome decisions almost Ruined Seasons. 106 games and you End up Second?
Players Make the Manager either look good or?
Dodgers managed to Win Despite Robert’s not Because of him. Bringing in Consistency Players who worked hard and improved were the difference. The front office has Zero Money problems Plaguing rivals rosters. The Combination of Great improved Castaways and free Agent Dynamite like Mookie, Freeman, and Shohei, which led to two more Japanese Stars being signed was Significant.
The Dodgers Organization strives for Perfection and very Hard Work and That Makes a Manager Great!
Robert’s does have a Presence not to be overlooked. So with that, Congratulations for 10 years of Robust Baseball. He has some Awesome Coaches who do their Jobs!
2025 Saw Robert’s best decision making especially in Playoffs. World Series decisions were 8 of 10 in my Opinion, but games 3-6-7 Robert’s Shined!!!

  2. Roberts has been at his best the last two years. He handled the pitching beautifully in 2024 and made many of the right moves again this year. Every managers makes moves that sometimes don’t work but that is baseball. Even the greatest managers made their share of mistakes. but learning from them and moving on is the true sign of leadership. Agree or disagree, Roberts has done a great job with his position with the Dodgers. He’s not a clown like Tommy Lasorda or a stoic like Walter Alston or milquetoast like Don Mattingly. I hope he stays 10 more years. The only thing I wish he should quit doing is commenting too early on injuries because he is almost never right about what happens in the beginning of one… It too soon to comment and no one needs to know until the facts are in anyway…
