Max Muncy on Dodgers Building a Super Team: ‘Everyone Else Can Cry’
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy didn’t hold back about baseball fans complaining about the Dodgers filling the roster with superstars.
“Everyone else can cry, I’m happy,” Muncy said on Foul Territory. “I got a second ring, I’d like to get a third maybe a fourth. And that’s one of those things where let everyone else cry about it as long as we keep winning. It makes me happy and when you bring in those players, it gives us a better chance.”
After the Dodgers signed Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal, many baseball fans were angered by the organization’s efforts to continue adding some of the biggest names in the sport. Arguably the biggest complaint was that the Dodgers were in some way orchestrating nefarious deals by deferring players’ salaries.
The deferred payments have sparked much controversy with advocates on both sides. Many fans have brought up the fact that deferred payments are an accepted tactic for all teams, but many owners choose not to do so.
However, the Dodgers haven’t let adversaries stop them from bolstering the roster. It’s a necessary action given the competition in the National League West alone.
The San Francisco Giants also struck gold with the latest signing of free-agent shortstop Willy Adames. Though the Giants have struggled in recent years, the acquisition of Adames highlights the organization’s desire to stay competitive in the division. There is also speculation San Francisco will add a big-name starting pitcher like Corbin Burnes.
Snell coming to Los Angeles means the Dodgers’ starting rotation has multiple aces. Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow are all considered aces, meaning the Dodgers have a total of four when normally teams are lucky to have one.
Additionally, the Dodgers have three MVPs at the top of the order with Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. The reigning World Series champions aren’t wasting any time in adding talent, signaling the Dodgers hope to return to the Fall Classic in 2025.
Baseball fans might be watching the next baseball dynasty if the Dodgers can win back-to-back World Series.
