MLB Notes: All-Star Pitcher Suddenly Retires, Red Sox Top Prospect Flameout Joins Royals, Brewers Sign Ex-Cubs Pitcher

All-Star and World Series champion Alex Wood has retired from the game of baseball. The veteran southpaw played 12 years in the show, with seven of those seasons ending in a postseason run.

Additionally, a former top prospect for the Boston Red Sox has joined the Kansas City Royals. Utility man Bobby Dalbec inked a minor league deal in Boston after opting out of one with the Milwaukee Brewers last week.

Speaking of the Brewers, they have agreed to a minor league deal with right-handed Julian Merryweather. The 33-year-old was a key bullpen piece for the Chicago Cubs in 2023 but has been marred with injuries since his career year.
