MLB: Tickets Go on Sale Tomorrow for the NLCS and World Series

Fans hoping to get out to a ballgame in 2020 will have the chance after all. After MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said last month that they would try to get fans in for the playoffs, ticket sales have been announced. 

MLB announced the dates for tickets to go on sale for the National League Championship Series and the World Series in Texas last week. The league will allow 11,500 tickets to be made available for each game played between those two series. Tickets will go on sale to the public starting on Tuesday, October 6th at 8 AM Pacific Time (TOMORROW). 

These games will be played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. That many tickets means that MLB is allowing approximately 28 percent capacity at the new Rangers ballpark. Globe Life also offers a retractable roof, which is probably part of the motivation for selling tickets there during a pandemic. 

If you’re wondering how much it will cost you to get to these games, it’s surprisingly affordable. Tickets are priced between $40 and $250 for the Championship Series, and between $75 and $450 for the World Series. Of the 11,500 seats being sold, 950 will be on the suite level and sold as packages of four tickets (called PODS).

In terms of social distancing, the seats being sold will be spaced apart accordingly. MLB is not allowing any tickets to be sold within 20 feet of the field, dugouts, or bullpens. Masks will be required while fans are at the stadium unless they are eating or drinking. 

The Championship Series is scheduled from October 12th through October 18th should it need to go that far. The World Series is set for October 20th through October 28th. There will be off days between Games 2 and 3 and Games 5 and 6 if the Series needs to go that far. There are no off days between NLCS games under the new structure put in place by MLB.
