Mookie Betts’ Recent Comments Should Have Dodgers Fans Excited for Future
Every baseball player dreams of the day they are crowned a World Series champion. For some, that day never comes. For Mookie Betts, that day has come three times. But Betts wants more.
“I got three. I’m trying to fill this hand up L.A.,” Betts said to a crowd of fans at the World Series celebration at Dodger Stadium.
After the Boston Red Sox traded Betts to the Dodgers in 2020, the eight-time MLB All-Star signed a 12-year, $365 million extension contract. Betts won his first World Series with the Red Sox in 2018. He was the American League MVP in the same season.
By the end of his first season with the Dodgers, Betts won his second World Series championship. Since joining the Dodgers, Betts has won two Gold Gloves, three Silver Sluggers, has four All-Star selections, and is a three-time All-MLB First Team selection.
The Dodgers will have Betts for at least eight more years. Betts brought home two World Series titles in five seasons. Therefore, it is looking like he will fill his hand with more rings by the end of his career with the Dodgers.
The Dodgers have locked down multiple generational talents for the next few years. In addition to Betts, Los Angeles will have Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Will Smith, and Tyler Glasnow until at least 2027.
All of these players significantly contributed to the 2024 World Series title. Glasnow has been injured since August with elbow inflammation, sidelining him during the postseason. But, his regular season efforts put the Dodgers in the position to win the title.
Fans should be excited about the promising future of the Dodgers.
