Padres Are Once Again Restricting Dodgers Fans From Buying Tickets For NLDS Matchup

As the NLDS kicks off Saturday, multiple Dodgers fans were notified that tickets for Game 3 and Game 4 (if needed) at Petco Park were unavailable for purchase to those who live in Los Angeles County.

The Ticketmaster website restricted sales of the games for purchase to residents located in San Diego County, southern Orange County, western Arizona, and Las Vegas.

“Petco Park is located in San Diego,” the notification said. “Sales to this event will be restricted to residents of San Diego County, southern Orange County, western Arizona, Las Vegas and the surrounding area, and all of Baja California. Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside San Diego County, southern Orange county, western Arizona, Las Vegas, and the surrounding area, and all of Baja California will be canceled without notice and refunds given.”

The Dodgers will face the Padres at Petco Park for Game 3 of the NLDS, and if necessary Game 4. The Padres are doing their best to prevent Los Angeles fans from entering Petco Park.

The Padres are hoping to have a home crowd with no blue in the stands. The San Diego fanbase had already begun chanting “Beat L.A.” following the Padres 5-4 triumph over the Atlanta Braves Wednesday night.

This isn’t the first time the Padres have attempted to stop Dodgers fans from supporting the team in the postseason.  The Padres took down the Dodgers in 2022, a motivation for the current Los Angeles clubhouse to earn their redemption in the upcoming series.

Padres third baseman Manny Machado made a stark comment in regards to the looming postseason series with the Dodgers.

“This is what everyone wanted,” Machado said.

It’s true. The Padres are desperate to climb out of the shadows of their big brother. The Dodgers are the heart and soul of California, with every other club residing in the state far behind.

However, San Diego’s latest move only reinforces the notion that the Padres are hoping to avoid a sea of blue at Petco Park. Home-field advantage is important in the postseason and the Padres want to capitalize on the matchups they’ll play in San Diego.

Only time will tell whether the Dodgers can shed the narrative of their postseason woes. Grab your popcorn and get ready for Game 1, Dodgers fans.

    1. 80% of the available tickets should be reserved for the “home” fans. If within a prescribed period that 80% have not been sold, they should be opened up to everyone. It should be made hard for out of market fans to buy tickets, not impossible.

  2. Awwww, are da poor widdo Padres afraid of dem big bad Dodger fans? Despicable, childish behavior. This should be a violation of anti-trust laws. The State AG needs to get involved.

    1. Padres are 2nd in MLB attendance, they sell out every game.
Pads vs Braves 2 games, 45 & 47,000 fans, Locals support the Pads, but, if i lived with 18mill, in LA, i would LOVE going to SD, just to GET OUT of LA, so we do.

  3. This something the commissioner should get involved in. Of course he won’t, but he should for the good of the game. Maybe the Dodgers should do the same thing, and eye for an eye…..

  4. this is all smoke and mirrors. Just win the flipping games LAD. We all know San Diego has less class, but you show them up by winning, not whining.
