Preview: Mets In Town With Clayton Kershaw Looking To Snap Losing Skid

The Los Angeles Dodgers finished their 10-game road trip with a record of 6-4 and now kick off a 10-game homestand. It begins with a matchup against the New York Mets, who have struggled after getting off to a hot start this season. Also working against the Mets is the Dodgers have won 13 of the last 16 meetings.
Making the start for the Dodgers is none other than their ace, Clayton Kershaw. In 16 starts, the reigning National League MVP is 5-6 with a 3.20 ERA. Kershaw is in the midst of his first career three-game losing streak. In his previous start against the Miami Marlins, the southpaw put forth a valiant effort and once again did not receive the run support to come away with a victory.
In seven innings pitched, Kershaw allowed just one earned run on seven hits. Two errors ultimately spelled doom as they led to a pair of runs that sunk the Dodgers. Friday mark’s Kershaw’s eighth time in his career facing the Mets. He’s 5-0 with a 1.62 ERA through the previous seven outings.
Taking the hill for the Mets is Noah Syndergaard. On the season, the 22 year old is 3-4 with a 3.59 ERA. The rookie is coming off the most impressive start of his young career. Against the Cincinnati Reds, Syndergaard tossed eight innings in which he allowed one unearned run on five hits.
The Mets have encountered their fair share of struggles on the road this season, going 11-26. Meanwhile the Dodgers have excelled at home, winning 27 of 40 contests played at Chavez Ravine.
