Recap: Brock Stewart Pitches 5 Scoreless Innings in 1-0 Victory Over Cubs
The Dodgers entered Sunday’s game feeling good after a 3-2 victory on Saturday. Rookie Brock Stewart took the mound with an ERA of over 11. Needless to say, fans were nervous. The joke was on them, however, because Stewart’s outing was phenomenal.

The real highlight of the day has got to be Brock Stewart. Many had their doubts about the young right hander, but boy did he deliver! Stewart went 5 innings giving up 0 runs, 2 hits, and 8 strikeouts… He even got his first MLB hit!
Congrats on your first hit, @B_Rock_one5!

The game would only include one run, and it would come in the bottom of the 8th thanks to one of the weirdest plays ever! Basically, Adrian Gonzalez comes up with the bases loaded and grounds out to third. Instead of going to first, the Cubs 3rd basemen throws to 2nd only for Corey Seager to hustle and make it safely! Thus, Andrew Toles scores on the play and that would be the only run of the game!
#Dodgers winning rally in 8th inning today featured no hits, only 2 balls put in play by 7 batters — Kendrick's E1 and Gonzalez's RBI FC.

Me thinks the Cubs threw to the wrong base.

This entire series felt like it was a postseason series with the amount of talent and intense present in each game. Regardless, the Dodgers will travel to Colorado for Monday’s game at 5:40 PM PST! Be sure to follow us on Twitter at @DodgersNation to get the play by play! Go Blue!
Big win for us today! It was expected the Giants would beat the Braves. Thankfully the Braves managed to take one game in that series so we could stay ahead of them. The biggest takeaway from me this series? The pitching given to us by the two young rookies, Urias and Stewart. Their stat line: 11 IP, 1 ER, 8 hits, 4 walks, 16 strikeouts. That is fantastic against the number one offensive team in the National League (per wRC+; they are number two to the Rockies in most other stats, but the Rockies play in Coors Field, so yeah, there’s that).
yarritsblake it was yesterday but yes – very big win we were going crazy last night because it was so tight
