Recap: Joc Pederson Drives in 4 Runs in Dodgers 9-7 Comeback Win vs. Diamondbacks
The Los Angeles Dodgers began their three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at home on Friday. Kenta Maeda got the start on Star Wars Night at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers looked to close the gap against the San Francisco Giants for first place in the NL West. Entering the game, they were two games back.
Top of the 1st – Bottom of the 3rd
In the top of the first, Kenta Maeda started strong as he struck out batter Jean Segura. Howie Kendrick made a nice dive as he caught the last out to end the top of the first. Maeda made his second strikeout which ended the first inning.

During the bottom of the second, Joc Pederson hit an RBI double as both Adrian Gonzalez and Andrew Toles scored. Dodgers take the lead 2-0.

To end the bottom of the third, Kendrick once again saved the day by making another great play in center field.

Top of the 4th – Bottom of the 6th
Moving on to the top of the fourth, Maeda made his third strikeout of the game. This ended the top of the fourth and the score remained 2-0 Dodgers. Bottom of the fourth, Toles hit an RBI and made his way to second base as Kendrick increased the lead to 3-0.

Top of the 7th – Bottom of the 9th
We’re at the top of the seventh and Maeda is done after pitching 6 1/3 innings. Adam Libertore came in and walked the only batter he faced.

Maeda was outstanding, but Dodgers still have just 2 games where a starter has completed 7 innings in July.

Dave Roberts made another pitching change and Joe Blanton came in to replace Libertore. Dodgers continued to lead 3-1. The pressure was on for Blanton as the bases were loaded for the Diamondbacks. Roberts made another visit to the mound, and Pedro Baez replaced Luis Avilan.
The Diamondbacks took advantage of the Dodgers pitching struggles in the seventh. They scored seven runs in the inning. The Dodgers were on their fifth pitcher when the Diamondbacks took the lead 7-3.

Taking it the bottom of the seventh, Joc Pederson made his fourth RBI tonight bringing in Toles with him to score. The score was 5-7.

Fortunately, Chase Utely saved the Dodgers, and hit a 2-run homer and tied the game 7-7.

Dodgers took the lead after Yasmani Grandal hit a ground ball to center and Corey Seager scored. The teams combined to score twelve runs in the seventh inning.
This stadium went absolutely nuts when Chase Utley hit that 2-run homer. Don't give up on these Dodgers.

Luis Coleman pitched at the top of the eighth inning and eight pitches into the inning, the Dodgers made a double play. Kenley Jansen then stepped up to the mound and closed the top of eighth. Seager hit a triple and Utley scored. Dodgers made an incredible comeback and lead 9-7.

With the win and a Giants loss, the boys in blue find themselves one game back from first place in the NL West. The Dodgers are 58-45 this season.
