SF Giants Looking at Another Dodgers Front Office Piece for Managerial Opening

Right now, Clayton McCullough is a name you should know. Indeed, today he is the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Field Coordinator… but within the near future, McCullough could be the new manager of the San Francisco Giants.

Now, according to a tweet by Craig Mish of FNTSY Sports Radio, the Giants are hot and heavy on McCullough as their new manager.

First, all of the fun got started when Mish tweeted that a new candidate has emerged for the Giants in their managerial search. It said this:

Per source, a new candidate has emerged in the San Francisco Giants search for a new Manager : Los Angeles Dodgers Field Coordinator Clayton McCullough.

In the past, McCullough spent seven seasons as a minor leaguer for the Cleveland Indians, followed by nine years in a variety of roles with the Toronto Blue Jays. Following that, he joined the Dodgers in January of 2015 in his current role. Needless to say, this is a well-versed baseball guy.

Next was Mike Petriello’s tongue in cheek tweet that according to a source, “Clayton possibly leaving the Dodgers for the Giants.”

In all seriousness, any time you can go from a position like McCullough’s current one with the Dodgers to managing any club; it’s not a hard decision.

It’s more likely to come down to how serious the Giants are about hiring him. Obviously, going with a candidate that has no prior experience as a manager can go either way; and you can think of positive and negative examples of both.

However, by all accounts; McCullough is a highly thought of individual within the game if you poke around the right places of the internet and do your homework on him. Remember, last winter saw the departures of Farhan Zaidi, Chris Woodward, and Turner Ward.

It appears as though the Dodgers’ recent run of success will have them providing the league with plenty of good people. This comes with the territory.
