Shohei Ohtani Makes Dodgers History More Than 100 Years in the Making

Shohei Ohtani is locked in and made Los Angeles Dodgers history again on Sunday afternoon in a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Braves at Dodger Stadium.

Ohtani finished the game 4-for-4 with two home runs — his first multi-homer game and first four-hit game since joining the organization in December. Ohtani’s second blast traveled 464 feet and was the longest for him this season. It was also his 25th extra-base hit, the most in a player’s first 35 games with the franchise since at least 1901.

The second-longest home run hit in the major leagues this season also extended Ohtani’s hitting streak to five games. Monday, he extended the streak to six. Ohtani is now 13-for-24 with four homers during this stretch.

Ohtani’s heroics led the Dodgers to a three-game sweep of the Braves, while their pitching staff limited one of the league’s best offenses to six runs in the three games.

Overall, Ohtani is slashing .370/.434/.705 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs, leading MLB in both home runs and batting average. He also recently broke manager Dave Roberts’ record for the most home runs by a Japanese-born player in Dodger history.

At this rate, get used to Ohtani doing things no Dodger has done before.
