Spring Training Preview: Zach Lee Starts Against The Brewers
Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was stellar in his Spring Training debut yesterday against the Chicago White Sox.
Today, a prospect takes the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as Zach Lee faces the Milwaukee Brewers in a split-squad game for the Dodgers at Maryvale Ranch in Phoenix, Ariz.
With the exception of Yasiel Puig, who will start at right field, and Joc Pederson, today’s center fielder, the lineup will feature mainly non-starters and players who are fighting for a spot on the team this spring.
Among those who are part of the Dodgers’ traveling contingent are catcher A.J. Ellis and outfielder Scott Van Slyke, both of whom should see a fair share of games this season. Also joining the club for the road game is Justin Turner. The super-utility man will bat fourth as designated hitter.
Matt Garza makes his Spring Training debut for the Brewers, who opened began their Cactus League play yesterday with a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Dodgers host the Seattle Mariners in the other split squad game today at Camelback Ranch.
