Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes Doesn’t Believe Team Has Gone ‘All-in’

Entering the new season, the Dodgers have a $1.2 billion target on their backs. This past offseason was the most expensive for any team in baseball history, and it set up the Dodgers for sustained success.

Even with the addition of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and others, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes doesn’t believe that the team has gone all-in. There are still prospects on the farm who, if traded, give the Dodgers avenues to improve if they choose to do so.

“I wouldn’t define it as like ‘going all-in.’ Because I think we still have maintained plenty of optionality to continue to add players, and bring along guys through the development system to contribute at different levels, and have everything time out.”

The Dodgers’ farm system is among the better and deeper ones in baseball, so they could always move some pieces to bring in more major-league-ready talent. Three of their top 10 prospects according to MLB.com (and four according to FanGraphs) are not on track to reach the majors until 2026.

The front office has been very aware of keeping a fine line between prioritizing winning in the current state, while also maximizing the winning window. It’s why the Dodgers have been able to continue reaching the postseason each season and why they still have one of the better windows going forward.

It’s a testament to how the entire organization has been run over the years, and the fun might just be getting started. With Ohtani in the mix now, Los Angeles sees an avenue to win multiple World Series titles and they plan to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
