Joey Gallo News: Agent Not Worried About Down Season with Dodgers, Yanks
Another name to keep an eye on for the Dodgers belongs to Joey Gallo as his next team remains uncertain. If the Dodgers choose to not bring Gallo back, this adds another hole in the outfield that may need to be accounted for as teams keep there eye on Gallo.
Unfortunately, Gallo’s season wasn’t one to remember. Gallo managed to pick his numbers up slightly after being traded from the Yankees to the Dodgers during the season, but he still managed to muster up just 19 home runs and 47 RBI’s on a .160 batting average.
These kind of numbers will make most teams afraid to sign Gallo, but being 28 years old can call for a risk free one-year contract. Even with the scary numbers, Gallo’s agent Scott Boras doesn’t believe it will be enough to turn teams away (via Joel Sherman, New York Post).
As for Gallo, Boras downplayed his poor performance since he was traded away from the Rangers in July 2021. Boras noted that, despite a few miserable months in 2021 with the Yankees, Gallo still hit 38 homers and won a Gold Glove. Clearly, Gallo never adjusted to New York.
It’s clear even the change of scenery didn’t effect much.
Boras dismissed Gallo’s similar production after he was acquired by the Dodgers at the 2022 trade deadline, attributing it to not playing full-time, adding, “He’s going to be playing full-time wherever he [signs].”
Boras also believes an elimination of full shifts should help Gallo. Batting a .160 is not something to be taken lightly, but if something can change of his swing there’s nowhere to go but up.

It is not another hole in the Dodger lineup. Gallo was a hole in the lineup when he played.
Scott Boras says that “elimination of the shifts should help Gallo”. Unfortunately there is no shift to eliminate strike three and the ball in the catcher’s mitt; you know the result of 50 percent of Joey Gallo’s at bats. He is a strikeout machine! He hit .159 with the Yankees and when he was traded, Boras said that he was doing better in LA; he hit a resounding .164 with the Dodgers. Now, Boras says he is “going to be playing full time wherever he signs.” The Newark Bears of the Independent League may need a full time outfielder!
Hard to imagine some of the kids on the farm wouldn’t be more productive than Gallo and Belli. Auto outs. Interested to see how those “holes” get plugged
Trayce Thompson and James Outman had better years than Gallo. They deserve his spot on the roster. Gallo had some good years in Texas. He should go back to the Rangers on a MLB minimum contract with production-related incentives. I wish him the best.
