LeBron James Pays Tribute to the Dodgers in the Western Conference Finals

It’s a good time to be a sports fan in the city of Los Angeles. The Dodgers are well on their way to the playoffs, and the Lakers are tearing their way through the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. We won’t talk about that other Los Angeles NBA team though.

LeBron James is easily the most recognizable athlete in Los Angeles, if not the world right now. James took the court in game 1 of the Western Conference Finals this weekend, sporting shoes that paid tribute to the Dodgers.

The Lakers played the Nuggets on Friday, on the same night that the Dodgers were playing the Rockies in Colorado. Initially thought of as a shot at the recently eliminated Clippers, it was later made clear that these were indeed made to pay homage to the city’s MLB team. The shoes feature red stitching much like a baseball.

The Lakers are playing in their first NBA Western Conference Finals since 2010. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol powered the team to yet another NBA Championsip that season. This year, the Dodgers and Lakers could very well end up winning a championship in the same month.
