The fact that Rich Hill has had the career arc that he has had is really symbolic of his entire life, including this instance. After reading stuff like that, you have to cheer for the guy even more. Hearing the account in his own words is beyond powerful.

Hill deserves endless respect for having the ability to come forward with a story on this emotional level. Many players around the league acknowledged Hill and his family on Twitter, including Brewers’ second baseman.

Thoughts

Rich Hill is a tremendous human being and this only shows that. The story of Brooks Hill is one that demonstrates something that often gets lost inside the game of baseball; the players maintain their own lives and baseball is just a game at the end of the day. No doubt this experience made Rich Hill stronger as a man and more motivated as a pitcher.
