Rich Hill Authors Must-Read Article for Players’ Tribune

Dodgers starting pitcher Rich Hill authored an absolute must-read of an article for The Players’ Tribune regarding his late son, Brooks Hill. I will warn: you should cry reading this.

Rich Hill is already a fan favorite for the Dodgers but he does maintain a significant following outside of the club.

The fact that Rich Hill has had the career arc that he has had is really symbolic of his entire life, including this instance. After reading stuff like that, you have to cheer for the guy even more. Hearing the account in his own words is beyond powerful.

Hill deserves endless respect for having the ability to come forward with a story on this emotional level. Many players around the league acknowledged Hill and his family on Twitter, including Brewers’ second baseman.

Thoughts

Rich Hill is a tremendous human being and this only shows that. The story of Brooks Hill is one that demonstrates something that often gets lost inside the game of baseball; the players maintain their own lives and baseball is just a game at the end of the day. No doubt this experience made Rich Hill stronger as a man and more motivated as a pitcher.

Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.

  1. Hi Rich and Caitlin and Bryce. I just read your story about losing Brooks. I am a Christian as I believe that you are and I believe that the young ones that we lose early in life go straight into our Savior’s arms. I heard a story about a child asking his heartbroken parents a question about the little one they had recently lost. He said “Mama, can you lose something when you know where it’s at?”

Thank you Rich for that story….and remember….Brooks isn’t lost….you will see him and hold him again. I love you man. Hang tough.
