Teoscar Hernández ‘Praying to God’ Dodgers Bring Kiké Hernández Back in Free Agency

The Los Angeles Dodgers have had an A-plus offseason.

They’ve added two starting pitchers in Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki, the best reliever on the market in Tanner Scott, and brought back outfielder Teoscar Hernández and right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen.

They’ve also added potential breakouts in outfielder Michael Conforto and infielder Hyeseong Kim.

While it would make sense for their offseason to be over — as the roster is more than set for the 2025 season — Teoscar Hernández wants to see the team make one more move.

“I’m praying to God that we can bring Kiké (Hernández) back,” Teoscar Hernández said Monday on Dodgers Territory. “I miss Kiké and I want him to be a Dodger.”

Kiké Hernández remains a free agent with less than a month until spring training.

The fan favorite has made his intentions clear about wanting to return to Los Angeles this offseason, but at this point, it’s unclear if the team has a spot for him.

“Main priority for me would probably be coming back,” Hernández said on The Shop last month. “I think this team — the Dodgers are very well positioned to make another run and be the first back to back team since the New York Yankees in ’99 and 2000.”

He held back even less while at a fan event a few days after the World Series at Raising Canes.

“I would love to be back,” Hernández said. “I truly believe that — we won the World Series a couple days ago — but I truly believe that this team is gonna be even better next year with all the pitching reinforcements.”

After the trade of Gavin Lux, it appeared there was room for Hernández on the 2025 roster. However, it’s no sure thing the Dodgers bring him back as the offseason winds down.

Hernández struggled in the first half of the 2024 season, hitting .191 with five home runs and an OPS of .557 across 71 games.

Then, he started wearing glasses, and had a massive second half turnaround, hitting .274 with seven home runs and an OPS of .766 across 55 games.

Hernández, like always, showed up in October, when he hit .294 with two home runs and an OPS of .808.

He is beloved by the Los Angeles fan base and would be a perfect final piece to the 2025 position player roster.

  1. Would love to see Kiké back and would love to see Arenado at third base, Muncy at second and Kim or Edman at shortstop. However after this offseason I trust the Dodgers will do whatever it takes! Great as always to be a Dodgers fan!! New Orleans Dodger!

  2. Please bring the dodgers spark plug back. We need Kike Hernandez. His positive attitude and energy is needed to keep the dodgers focused on their quest to repeat!

  3. Kike was an intrical part of the dodgers and our spark plug on more than one occasion…what’s the hold up? Get the guy who is a no brainer signed then go get whatever else you want…he wants to play here, fans want him and love him…the only name left I want to hear has signed with the dodgers is kike hernandez otherwise I just don’t care!!!!

  4. Yes, bring Kike back then figure out what to do with MiggyRo, Pages, Outman, and CT3, why Mookie should play center instead of short, and the plethora of now extraneous injured pitching.
