Tweets Of The Night: Dodgers Drop NLCS Game 6 To Cardinals, 9-0
The Dodgers stayed alive in the NLCS by beating the Cardinals 6-4 in Game 5 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers hit four home runs and that tied a team postseason record and now the series has moved back to St. Louis for Game 6 and potentially Game 7.
Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is on the mound tonight and the Dodgers couldn’t have asked for a better pitcher to have on the mound down 3-2 in the series and looking for a Game 7. Kershaw has been incredible in the postseason with a 1-1 record and a 0.47 ERA. In his first start in Game 2, he went six innings and only allowed two hits and one unearned run. Tonight, Kershaw was looking for redemption and give his team an opportunity to get to the World Series.
The Cardinals once again countered with Michael Wacha and the right handed rookie has been impressive as well in his first two postseason starts and has a 0.64 ERA. A rookie from Texas A&M, he hasn’t shown any signs of being a rookie and was looking to send the Cardinals to the World Series for the second time in three years.
Here are the tweets of the night.

Clayton Kershaw’s shortest start not related to stomach flu since Sept. 19, 2010
— Pedro Moura (@PedroMoura) October 19, 2013
Could not be more stunned. Kershaw made it thru at least 5 IP in every start in regular season, but out after 4+ tonight.
— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) October 19, 2013
Cardinals lead 5-0 on Matt Adams’ RBI double. Don Mattingly heads to the mound to get Clayton Kershaw. Ronald Belisario now pitching.

Clayton Kershaw’s night is over. Here comes Ronald Belisario with St. Louis up 5-0 and runners at second and third nobody out

Belisario up in #Dodgers pen.
— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) October 19, 2013
Puig playing awful defense, no doubt, but let’s not get mixed up here: The real story is Clayton Kershaw getting torched.
— Pedro Moura (@PedroMoura) October 19, 2013
Halfway home, which means there’s halfway to go. #Dodgers trail 4-0, but this isn’t over.
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) October 19, 2013
Thru top 5th — #Cardinals Michael Wacha has allowed 1 run in his past 29 innings. #Dodgers need a bit more than that very soon
— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) October 19, 2013
If Dodgers fans are looking for some hope, the team scalded two balls in that inning off Wacha
— Mark Saxon (@markasaxon) October 19, 2013
Kershaw’s hanging far too many breaking balls tonight. Too bad because both his slider and change have been great this month. #Dodgers
— Dustin Nosler (@FeelinKindaBlue) October 19, 2013
Clayton Kershaw back to the mound for the bottom of the fourth inning. No action in #Dodgers‘ bullpen.
— J.P. Hoornstra (@jphoornstra) October 19, 2013

Shane Robinson drives in two more — Cardinals now up 4-0.
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) October 19, 2013

— Pedro Moura (@PedroMoura) October 19, 2013
Before this inning, the #Cardinals & #Braves were 2 for 30 against Kershaw with runners on base in this postseason. 2 for 3 in this inning
— Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) October 19, 2013
No need to blame or point fingers. Was gonna take at least a couple runs to be in this one.
— Dustin Nosler (@FeelinKindaBlue) October 19, 2013
This is the fourth time #Cardinals have faced Kershaw this season. They won the first three, and they’re up 2-0 now. #Dodgers
— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) October 19, 2013
Weird part of the Puig throw is it wasn’t even a real attempt to go home, either. Uncharacteristic of him. Cost LAD a run, too
— Pedro Moura (@PedroMoura) October 19, 2013
Yadier Molina singles. Carlos Beltran scores. #Cardinals 2, #Dodgers 0
— J.P. Hoornstra (@jphoornstra) October 19, 2013
With his 4th strikeout of the game Clayton Kershaw just passed Orel Hershiser for 4th on the #Dodgers all-time postseason strikeout leaders
— Ryan Walton (@RyanWaltonMLB) October 19, 2013
Right over his glove. Of course.
— Dustin Nosler (@FeelinKindaBlue) October 19, 2013
Puig didn’t commit to a throw home or to first there, setting up Gonzalez poorly and allowing Beltran to take second
— Pedro Moura (@PedroMoura) October 19, 2013

Not sure if Kershaw will win tonight, but with that breaking ball I’ll predict he strikes out a LOT of guys
— Mark Saxon (@markasaxon) October 19, 2013
Clayton Kershaw gets Pete Kozma, swinging! #Dodgers and Cardinals scoreless through two innings.
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) October 19, 2013
Cardinals scored only run on Kershaw in Game 2 after passed ball. Now Robinson is on 3B after back-to-back wild pitches.
— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) October 19, 2013
That was interesting. Puig took a called third strike and ran off without a word. In Game 5 he put his hands on his hips for a solid 10 secs
— Pedro Moura (@PedroMoura) October 19, 2013
Standing ovation as Puig strikes out.
— Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) October 19, 2013

Scott Van Slyke, last man standing: pic.twitter.com/BpLhZpAgsG
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) October 19, 2013
I still don’t fully understand what that Van Slyke-Kelly thing was, but it seems like Van Slyke won it
